The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) are to implement a joint project.
As part of the 11th Azerbaijan International Tourism and Travel Exhibition, AITF 2012, the first agreement on a joint project entitled “A Taste of the Silk Road” was signed by and between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
As stated during the signing ceremony by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, Abulfas Garayev, despite the fact that the country became a member of UNWTO in 2011, this is the first project to be undertaken in partnership.
‘The Joint Project entitled “A Taste of the Silk Road” refers to the hosting in Baku of an international conference entitled “Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism”. We believe that gastronomy is important for the development of tourism in Azerbaijan, because our cuisine is a national treasure. We believe that the project of hosting this international conference in collaboration with UNWTO offers an irreplaceable opportunity for the active promotion of tourism in Azerbaijan”, said Mr Garayev.
In turn, Alla Piresolova, the representative for UNWTO, noted satisfaction with the implementation of this first joint project with Azerbaijan and stated that the international conference on “Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism” would be held in Baku from 6-7 September.
